The SSE 1090SJ mk2, ADS-B Antenna has been Custom Designed for SSE (UK) by VHF Teknik AB in Sweden. Company profile Click Here. VHF Teknik AB have been developing and manufacturing Professional Antennas since 1971.
With this expertise available plus the fact that we had Tested-Evaluated a whole Range of ADS-B Antennas (We made comparison graphs from a Fixed Base Location using a SBS and Radar Box), the SSE 1090SJ mk 2
Antenna evolved.It should be noted that also the mechanical construction of this type of antenna must be taken into consideration! At a frequency of 1090MHz, it is very important (especially for BASE Antennas) that the Radiating Element does not move-vibrate, due to Heavy-Icing, Snow, Sleet, Ice Rain and High Winds, etc. (Coils Icing Up)
1090SJ mk 2 Temp Range: -35°C to +70°C.
To Help solve these problems and to guarantee a highly dependable service in all climates, the SSE 1090SJ mk 2 Radiating Element is enclosed in a special Fibreglass Tube.
To greatly reduce noise caused by atmospheric discharges-lightening, etc., all metal parts are DC - Grounded with the antenna showing a DC - Short Across the "N"Coaxial Socket. This also greatly reduces problems with RF-Pre-amp, Input Stages!! The special “N” Female Connector is housed in a very strong quality machined Chrome plated Brass Fitting. All materials are specially selected for a minimum of Electrolytic Corrosion and Intermodulation and high strength!

COAXIAL CABLE FOR 1090MHz
There are many different coaxial cables to choose from for 1090MHz, with large price differences both in the cable and the connectors. The fitting assembly for some connectors is by no means easy. Due to the stiffness of some cables the bending radius has to be seriously taken into consideration. Below is a list of various coaxial cables that may be used. I have included the loss at 5, 10 and 15mtrs. Please note this is approximate and does not include the 2 connectors. I suggest you contact Henry Westlake, a specialist in coaxial cables, and he will make up the length you require with the appropriate connectors. For a good all round price, loss, ease of use, then Westflex W103 is a good choice.
